Ribbon Cut on SCCPSS’ new Otis J. Brock, III Elementary School In Savannah

IMG_6167Savannah, GA – On Friday, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) celebrated the completion of the new Otis J. Brock, III Elementary School, named in honor of the late Otis J. Brock, III – a Savannah native who served as the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System’s Chief Operating Officer.  Designed by Hussey Gay Bell, the new $18 million school features 96,000 square feet of new high-tech classrooms, gymnasium, kitchen and cafeteria with a stage, media center with computer lab, art room, music room, teacher workrooms and resource rooms; funded under ESPLOST II.

“When the students walk in, they can walk into something they are very, very proud of,” said Principal Maggie Walker.

The design approach included the use of a new prototype design for 650 students by Hussey Gay Bell with a core capacity to accommodate 900 students.  It was constructed by Elkins Construction, LLC on the site with the existing school which was later demolished.
