Civil CAD Technician (Charleston Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is currently seeking a Civil Engineering CAD Technician for the Land Development Group in the Charleston office. The main responsibility of the CAD Technician is to create construction design documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D software under the direction of a Project Engineer or Project Manager for various land development projects.  Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with multi-office design teams both verbally and in writing are essential.  Candidate must have a positive team attitude and commitment to our work for our clients.  A demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD 2012 Civil 3D or later is mandatory.  Knowledge of ArcView and ArcMap a plus.  Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field preferred.   Qualified candidates should send a resume in PDF format to careers@husseygaybell.com with the subject line “Civil CAD Tech CHS”.

 

Civil Engineer (Columbia Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is currently seeking a Civil Engineer with a minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated water distribution and wastewater collection systems design, notably as it relates to large diameter sewers and sewer studies.  The ideal candidate will possess experience in the planning, design and permitting of wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems as well as demonstrate experience providing water and sewer master plans, environmental review and planning documents for municipalities and utility companies.  The successful candidate will use his/her technical abilities to plan, analyze, and design water treatment and distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, water source development and wastewater treatment and disposal.  The Engineer will be responsible for development of preliminary engineering reports, engineering calculations, technical reports, permitting, construction drawings and project specifications.  The successful candidate is expected to perform work within assigned budget, schedule and quality requirements and be able to successfully manage a project from concept through construction.  Ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; be capable of successfully interacting with multiple disciplines to complete a project; and have the ability to obtain a South Carolina Professional Engineer License.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
  • 2 years of experience minimum required.
  • Familiarity with standard industry software such as WaterCAD, SewerCAD, AutoCAD, BioWin and/or other standard software.
  • Familiarity with ArcView and ArcMap preferred.
  • Prior experience in municipal water and sewer projects preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A positive team attitude and commitment to our work and our clients.

Project Manager(s) (Savannah and Atlanta Offices)
Hussey Gay Bell is seeking architectural personnel with at least 3 years of experience in project production. Skills desired are the ability to assist in project design, detailing, drafting, and management of multiple projects at any given time. Proficiency in Revit is mandatory. Applicants should have the desire to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, small office environment. Land Development Civil Engineer (Charleston and Savannah Offices)
Hussey Gay Bell is currently seeking an enthusiastic Land Development Civil Engineer with a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience in residential land development and permitting.  General duties include design, construction document production and full permitting of land development projects of various size and complexity. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, independent design, construction document production in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office suite, calculations and permitting for roads, parking lots, stormwater management, erosion control and site utilities on land development projects ranging from small commercial out-parcels, industrial projects and primarily single and multi-family residential. The ability to provide land development design, including detailed grading, in an independent setting as well as a team environment depending on project complexity is crucial. Depending on level of project complexity candidate is expected to execute and manage projects from concept through final permitting.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with multi-office design team, clients and government agencies both verbally and in writing are essential.  Candidate must project a professional, positive attitude and have 3+ years of demonstrated progressive experience specifically in land development.  A demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD 2012 Civil 3D or later and stormwater modeling software is mandatory. BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field preferred. CAD Technician (Savannah Office)
Hussey Gay Bell currently has an opening for a Water/Wastewater CAD Technician in our Savannah, Georgia office. The main responsibility of the CAD Technician is to create designs under the direction from a Project Engineer or Project Manager for various municipal design projects. This position will require familiarity with plant piping systems with a grasp of spatial relationships of plant elements. The successful candidate should: have an understanding of municipal utility systems and fundamental requirements for water, sewer and storm drainage utility layout and design; have a basic understanding of Architectural and Structural drawing terminology and drawing presentation; and be skilled in the knowledge of construction drawing preparation and presentation.  Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or technical school degree.
  • Must be proficient in ACAD 13 3D and Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of ArcView and ArcMap very helpful and preferred.
  • Prior experience in municipal water and sewer CAD-related projects preferred.

Land Survey Technician/Project Manager (Columbia Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is accepting applications for the position of Land Survey Technician/Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparation of survey plats and maps including boundary surveys, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, wetlands exhibits, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, utility route surveys and maps meeting the current SCDOT survey requirements. Responsibilities will also include individual project management, court house research, construction staking calculations, and occasional field work.  The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision to complete projects with demanding scopes and schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years relative experience (Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in South Carolina or ability to obtain license is preferred but not required.)
  • Experience and knowledge with Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Microstation programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient to represent the company to clients, municipal agencies and others.

Transportation Engineer (Columbia Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Transportation/Highway Engineer with minimum eight (8) years of experience for full-time employment.  Successful candidates will design and manage certain aspects of transportation projects for state and local governments, including the development of construction plans, cost estimates, bid documents, various calculations, and quantity takeoffs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the design and creation of construction documents on a wide variety of transportation projects.
  • Different roadway design components including typical sections, earthwork, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, signing and marking plan, safety features and maintenance of traffic plans.
  • Assignments will also involve tasks associated with producing a set of construction documents including design, drafting, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimates.

Candidate shall, at minimum, possess:

  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited curriculum.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of professional work experience with an emphasis in highway/ transportation design projects, including complete preparation of ROW and final construction plans.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer is required.  Ability to obtain licensure in SC within 6 months, if not currently registered.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, and MUTCD publications, specifications and standards, and SCDOT design standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of roadway design programs, MicroStation V8i and GEOPAK Road and Drainage.
  • Effective planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Senior Hydraulic Engineer (Savannah Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Hydraulic/Drainage Engineer with ten (10) years of experience for full-time employment.  Successful candidates will design and manage certain aspects of transportation and drainage improvement projects for state and local governments, including the development of construction plans, cost estimates, bid documents, various calculations, and quantity takeoffs.

Candidate shall, at minimum, possess:

  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited curriculum.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of professional work experience with an emphasis in hydraulic studies, analysis and design.
  • A professional engineering license in the State of Georgia  and/or South Carolina.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of drainage and roadway drainage design programs, especially XPSWMM or similar dynamic modeling software, HEC-RAS, Geopak and/or Inroads.
  • Demonstrable expertise with either AutoCAD/Civil 3D or MicroStation V8i.
  • Effective planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Tasks will primarily include the following items:

  • Performing civil engineering design and project management with emphasis on drainage for state and county highway and drainage improvement projects.
  • Performing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and reports including flood risk reduction studies, hydraulic modeling and calculations, floodplain studies, implementation of drainage systems, and specifications.
  • Performing complete hydrologic/hydraulic design of roadway drainage systems, bridge hydraulic analysis, and erosion control design and other ancillary plans.
  • Design, analysis and plan preparation for roadway and site development drainage and stormwater management systems to meet state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Supervising technical staff assisting with project completion.
