Senior Transportation Engineer (Savannah and Columbia Offices)
Hussey Gay Bell is accepting applications for two Senior Transportation Engineers – one to join its Savannah transportation design group and one to join its Columbia transportation design group. Candidates must have 6-10 years of transportation systems design and construction administration experience and a minimum of 3 years of managing other engineers and technical support staff.  A strong technical background with comparable leadership, communications and business development skills is a fundamental requirement. Successful candidate will design and manage certain aspects of transportation projects for state and local governments, including the development of construction plans, cost estimates, bid documents, various calculations, and quantity takeoffs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the design and creation of construction documents on a wide variety of transportation projects.
  • Different roadway design components including typical sections, earthwork, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, signing and marking plan, safety features and maintenance of traffic plans.
  • Assignments will also involve tasks associated with producing a set of construction documents including design, drafting, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimates.

Candidate shall, at minimum, possess:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in GA
  • A minimum of 6 years of professional work experience with an emphasis in highway/ transportation design projects, including complete preparation of ROW and final construction plans; experience with GDOT and SCDOT preferred.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, and MUTCD publications, specifications and standards, and SCDOT/GDOT design standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of roadway design programs, MicroStation V8i and GEOPAK Road and Drainage.
  • Effective planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Intern Architect / Project Architect (Duluth Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is seeking an Intern Architect or Project Architect with a NAAB-accredited architecture BS or Master’s degree.  Prospective candidate should be a licensed Architect with 2-5 years recent experience in architectural practice or on the path to registration.  The candidate must be proficient in Revit, with Sketchup, and Photoshop experience desired.  The ideal candidate should be capable of managing small to medium projects, experienced in producing construction documents, and desire more responsibility and experience. Hussey Gay Bell will give as much responsibility as possible, including design, client contact and construction administration, in hopes that they will hold a future leadership role in a growing, regional, multi-disciplinary firm with a variety of client sectors.

Project Representative (Charleston Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is currently accepting applications for a Project Representative.  This position requires construction observation of Water and Sewer Piping, Pump Stations, Grading, Paving and Storm Drainage projects.  We are seeking a candidate who is self-motivated with good time management skills, good work ethics, good verbal communication and writing skills.  The ideal candidate will have worked for a contractor specializing in the construction of water, sewer and storm drainage systems, site grading, and paving work.  Candidate must be able to inspect ongoing construction projects for quality, accuracy per contract documents and approved standards.  Review of contract documents for constructability and cost evaluations is also a job requirement.  Experience in coastal area construction is a plus.

Water/Wastewater Project Engineer (Savannah Office)
Hussey Gay Bell has an opening in our Water/Wastewater department for an experienced project engineer. Candidate should have previous experience with wastewater collection, pump station and force mains, and water distribution systems.  Experience with water or wastewater treatment is a plus.  Candidate should be able to create design drawings in AutoCAD and be familiar with modeling software such as WaterCAD.  Experience in the design, permitting and compliance of municipal water and sewer systems is required. Minimum  3+ experience in water and wastewater design and proficient in AutoCAD.  EIT required and the ability to obtain Professional Engineer license within 18 months of employment desired.

Utility Coordinator (Columbia Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is currently seeking a Utility Coordinator with a minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated experience working with public utilities that provide power, communications, water, gas and/or sewer services.  The ideal candidate will possess experience on SCDOT roadway projects and will be proficient in AutoCAD and/or Microstation.  The successful candidate will use his/her technical abilities to coordinate with utility companies on roadway projects to ensure relocations are scheduled on time to ensure successful project delivery.  Ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be capable of successfully interacting with multiple disciplines to complete a project.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Four years of experience.
  • Familiarity with standard industry software such as AutoCAD and/or Microstation.

Civil CAD Technician (Charleston Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is currently seeking a Civil Engineering CAD Technician for the Land Development Group in the Charleston office. Civil Engineer (Columbia Office)
Hussey Gay Bell is currently seeking a Civil Engineer with a minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated water distribution and wastewater collection systems design, notably as it relates to large diameter sewers and sewer studies.  The ideal candidate will possess experience in the planning, design and permitting of wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems as well as demonstrate experience providing water and sewer master plans, environmental review and planning documents for municipalities and utility companies.  The successful candidate will use his/her technical abilities to plan, analyze, and design water treatment and distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, water source development and wastewater treatment and disposal.  The Engineer will be responsible for development of preliminary engineering reports, engineering calculations, technical reports, permitting, construction drawings and project specifications.  The successful candidate is expected to perform work within assigned budget, schedule and quality requirements and be able to successfully manage a project from concept through construction.  Ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; be capable of successfully interacting with multiple disciplines to complete a project; and have the ability to obtain a South Carolina Professional Engineer License.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
  • 2 years of experience minimum required.

Land Development Civil Engineer (Charleston and Savannah Offices)
Hussey Gay Bell is currently seeking an enthusiastic Land Development Civil Engineer with a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience in residential land development and permitting.  General duties include design, construction document production and full permitting of land development projects of various size and complexity. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, independent design, construction document production in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office suite, calculations and permitting for roads, parking lots, stormwater management, erosion control and site utilities on land development projects ranging from small commercial out-parcels, industrial projects and primarily single and multi-family residential. The ability to provide land development design, including detailed grading, in an independent setting as well as a team environment depending on project complexity is crucial. Depending on level of project complexity candidate is expected to execute and manage projects from concept through final permitting.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with multi-office design team, clients and government agencies both verbally and in writing are essential.  Candidate must project a professional, positive attitude and have 3+ years of demonstrated progressive experience specifically in land development.  A demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD 2012 Civil 3D or later and stormwater modeling software is mandatory. BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field preferred. Land Survey Technician/Project Manager (Columbia Office)

Hussey Gay Bell is accepting applications for the position of Land Survey Technician/Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparation of survey plats and maps including boundary surveys, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, wetlands exhibits, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, utility route surveys and maps meeting the current SCDOT survey requirements. Responsibilities will also include individual project management, court house research, construction staking calculations, and occasional field work.  The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision to complete projects with demanding scopes and schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years relative experience (Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in South Carolina or ability to obtain license is preferred but not required.)
  • Experience and knowledge with Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Microstation programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient to represent the company to clients, municipal agencies and others.
