Hussey Gay Bell is currently accepting applications for a Survey Crew Chief. The successful candidate will work with a team of professionals to complete a wide variety of survey projects. Projects may include boundary surveys, topographic surveys, wetland surveys, route surveys, construction layout and other types of surveys as clients require. This position will be filled by a results-oriented individual that is self-motivated, with a proven track record of relevant experience.

Applications from LSIT and PLS are encouraged. The responsibilities, job description and compensation are flexible depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The successful candidate may be paid a signing bonus.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with two (2) years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately perform survey calculations in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience with electronic data collection equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Survey Grade GPS Equipment.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Clean driving record.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Any level of College Education will be considered a plus
  • LSIT or PLS Registration or ability to obtain such within one-year.
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD.
  • Previous management experience.

Hussey Gay Bell has an immediate opening in our Charleston Office for a Water/Wastewater project engineer with a minimum of 4 years of related experience. Candidate should have previous design experience with water distribution systems, wastewater collection, pump stations and force mains. Experience with planning, permitting, design and construction of municipal water and wastewater pipelines is a plus. Candidate should be able to create design drawings in AutoCAD and be familiar with modeling software such as WaterCAD.

 Responsibilities:

  • Project coordination with the Owner and other disciplines necessary to produce the project.
  • Design of water/wastewater facilities.
  • Lead regulatory permitting efforts.
  • Prepare engineering calculations.
  • Produce plans and specifications.
  • Assist with resolution of construction issues and conducting site observations.

Candidate shall, at a minimum, possess:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • EIT with ability to obtain PE license within 12 months.
  • Effective planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and WaterCAD.
  • Positive attitude and desire to learn.

Hussey Gay Bell is currently seeking an enthusiastic Land Development Civil Engineer with a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience in residential land development and permitting.  General duties include design, construction document production and full permitting of land development projects of various size and complexity. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, independent design, construction document production in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office suite, calculations and permitting for roads, parking lots, stormwater management, erosion control and site utilities on land development projects ranging from small commercial out-parcels, industrial projects and primarily single and multi-family residential. The ability to provide land development design, including detailed grading, in an independent setting as well as a team environment depending on project complexity is crucial. Depending on level of project complexity candidate is expected to execute and manage projects from concept through final permitting.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with multi-office design team, clients and government agencies both verbally and in writing are essential.  Candidate must project a professional, positive attitude and have 3+ years of demonstrated progressive experience specifically in land development.  A demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD 2012 Civil 3D or later and stormwater modeling software is mandatory. BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field preferred. Immediate opening in the Mount Pleasant, SC office for a Registered Civil Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Site Development Design for Commercial, Institutional (Schools), Industrial and Residential projects.  Experience with all phases of the design process, client interaction, project management and permitting is desired.  Experience with Civil 3D is required.

Immediate opening in the Mount Pleasant, SC office for a Civil Engineering Design Technician (EIT, Associates Civil Engineering Degree, etc.) with experience in Site Development Design for private development – Commercial, Institutional (Schools), Industrial and Residential projects.  Experience with site grading, storm drainage design, water and sanitary sewer design and permitting is desired.  Civil 3D proficiency is a must.
